Description
The concern for public policy dialogue in a challenging African economic environment is becoming louder by the day. Being a Centre that is dedicated to addressing public policy issues, we feel deeply excited to be a part of this global body of thinkers that are committed to contributing to the development and implementation of good public policies in Nigeria and beyond. In keeping with the mandate of the Akpan Hogan Ekpo Center for Public Policy (AHECPP) therefore, we held the first public lecture on July 26, 2016 during the formal lunching of the Centre. We are indeed very pleased to have been fortunate to have a great international scholar, a man of no mean standing in the field of public policy, Prof. Osita Ogbu to deliver this ground-breakinglecture.
Professor Ositu Ogbu’s testament to creative thoughts on national discuss is backed by his years of experiences in government, the corporate world, and academics. In this book, he captured the very spirit and substance of Nigeria’s lingering challenges as she struggles towards national development. We salute his courage and determination in taking on this task headlong in his presentation. By drawing on examples from China, Malaysia and Singapore, Prof. Ogbu demonstrates the efficacy of the enthronement of shared vision in nation building, and total societal transformation.
Nations are built by the stroke of imagination of a small minority of thinkers. By directing their positive energies towards the discussion of such issues that touch on the fabrics of society, they transform their societies, one idea at a time. It is our view that Prof. Osita Ogbu has accomplished this same feat in this first public lecture of the Prof. Akpan Hogan Ekpo Centre for Public Policy, having made significant contributions to the body of knowledge in the field of public policy in this very well articulated piece of work.
